South Carolina Everyone in the SEC knows what star guard Devan Downey can do, but the Gamecocks (13-8, 4-3) are no one-trick pony. Mississippi State The Bulldogs face a tough stretch with road games at Vanderbilt and Florida this week. Mississippi State (16-5, 4-2) has played much better at home (10-1) this season, while the road has been rocky (3-3) with two straight road losses at Alabama and Arkansas. VANDERBILT The Commodores (14-3) are off to a 3-0 start in league play, starting with a home win over a hot-shooting Florida team and the two wins on the road at Alabama and South Carolina. Vanderbilt earned a 95-87 victory over Florida, but Commodores coach Kevin Stallings had some positive words on Monday about first-year Gators Kenny Boynton, Vernon Macklin and Erik Murphy. Don’t look now, but the Wildcats are on a three-game winning streak heading into a season-ending showdown with Tennessee. Silver Star: Florida backup quarterback John Brantley.
